FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating a robbery at the Walgreens store.

Police say around 3:30 p.m., Michael Schlau, 44, of Fort Wayne, walked into the Walgreens at West State Boulevard and Wells Street, told employees he had a gun and demanded prescription drugs.

The tellers obliged, and Schlau left the store with the drugs, police say.

Witnesses who saw the suspect directed the police to where the man fled.

Police found Schlau wearing gloves and carrying a Walgreens bag while walking down the street near the store. As officers pulled up, police say Schlau ran.

Schlau was arrested near the intersection of Wells Street & Florence Avenue. He has been preliminarily charged with resisting arrest, possesion of a controlled substance and armed robbery.
