FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - A local engineer is hosting an Ice Cream Social at Foster Park on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
John Oldenkamp, an engineer who attended a local college in Fort Wayne in 1954, has coined Foster Park as being "The Big Office." According to individuals who know Oldenkamp say that whenever he had a challenging project to conquer he would take time to walk through the park and would always come up with the solution. He was also a major donor to restore Pavilion #1.
The Ice Cream Social will be accompanied by a Dixieland band, The Dixielanders of Auburn. The band will perform from 2 to 3 p.m. and Edy's Grand Ice Cream will be served. This is the third annual Ice Cream Social that Mr. Oldenkamp has sponsored. Plans for additional improvements at Foster Park will be discussed at 1:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
