Two Teens, 19 & 15, Shot On Smith Street

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - A man and a girl were wounded in a double shooting Tuesday afternoon in the Summit City.

Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4400 block of Smith St. around 5 p.m., and found James Starts III, 19, and Lashire Collins, 15, had been shot.

Witnesses tell police the victims were shot while standing in the front yard at the intersection of Smith Street and Senate Avenue near Abbett Elementary School.

A suspect, described as a black man, fled southbound by foot through an alley west of Smith Street, witnesses say. The suspect remains at-large.

Both victims were taken to a hospital. Police say the 15-year-old girl was in serious condition, but is improving.

The man was listed in critical condition at the hospital, police say.
