INDIANAPOLIS (www.incnow.tv) - A fantastic baseball season for Norwell High School culminated with a state championship Friday, as the Knights beat Jasper, 2-1.

Pitcher Josh VanMeter led the way both on the mound and at the plate.

In a tight game, the Padres' 5th round draft pick only gave up one run on three hits in seven innings of work.

He scored both Knights' runs, including the game winner in the fifth. Shortstop Jonah Patten notched the two RBIs.

It's the third state baseball title for Norwell in a decade, and the first since the Knights' undefeated run with pitcher Jarrod Parker in 2007.

Norwell will hold a state championship rally at 7:30 p.m. Saturday to welcome home the newest state champions.
