FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Science Central celebrated New Year's Eve with its annual noon balloon drop Monday.

The balloon drop is a way for families who may not be able to stay up until midnight to say farewell to 2012.

"Wwe wanted to make sure that we had a an activitiy that people could enjoy during the day." "It's fun, it's visual and it's entertaining; a nice way to celebrate the new year."

Reigning titleholders from the Miss Three Rivers Festival pageant joined hundreds of kids to chant countdown as 1,000 balloons drop at 12 p.m. Everyone was given hats, noisemakers and a pop toast in celebration.
