FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Bishop Luers linebacker Jaylon Smith was presented the high school Butkus Award Saturday during a ceremony at Bishop Luers High School.

Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus and his son, Matt, attended the ceremony, and presented Smith the award.

""It just feels good to have someone of this caliber hopefully follow in my footsteps or make his own tracks," Butkus said.

The Butkus Award honors the nation's top linebacker at the high school college and NFL levels. Smith was announced the winner of the prep version on Dec. 3.

"To be selected as the recepient for the award is kinda amazing," Smith said. "I never thought I'd get the chance to meet him (Butkus)."
