CINCINNATI (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Fort Wayne's Voices of Unity Youth Choir performed Monday morning on ABC News's Good Morning America.
Voices of Unity is in Cincinnati for the World Choir Games. GMA had a live taping in Cincinnati with the choir from Fountain Square, choir officials said.
Last week, Voices of Unity performed with award-winning singer Kirk Franklin in the opening ceremonies of the World Choir Games. Voices of Unity will be performing Wednesday, July 11th at 3pm in the Gospel category.
In the Popular Choral Music category, Voices of Unity won a Gold medal. They competed Saturday evening; and the award ceremony took place Sunday morning. The choir is no longer defending the gold, the Voices of Unity are a reigning gold medalist.
The competition is based upon points. Whoever earns the most points in a specific category earns the title of Grand Champion. Voices of Unity earned 84.63 points (improving their score from 2010). Stellenbosch University Choir (South Africa) earned 91.25 points and a gold medal. Dekoor Close Harmony (Netherlands) are also the Grand Champions of the Popular Choral Music. They earned 92.13 points, a gold medal, and a trophy.
