FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- 21Alive Executive Producer, Nicole Hahn, has already battled and survived cervical cancer and in August of last year, she found a lump on her breast and went to get it checked.

Stephanie Parkinson went with Hahn as she had the doctors examine the lump she found during a self-exam.

"It's definitely frightening," Hahn told Parkinson while waiting for the ultrasound. When Hahn discovered the lump during a routine self-exam she immediately scheduled a mammogram. The mammogram showed nodules that raised concern with her doctors, so they scheduled an ultrasound.

The nurse told Parkinson that the ultrasound helps doctors make a better diagnosis. They may be looking at something very simple, such as a cyst (fluid collection) or a majority of the time it is what they call a Fibroid Noma.

So far everything that the doctors biopsied was benign, which means Hahn is clear of breast cancer now. But she and her doctors will have to keep a close eye on what is benign and make sure it doesn't grow.

"This can be stressful," Hahn told 21Alive. "The most important thing is making sure you trust those who are treating you. It's much easier when you have someone with you who is supportive and can explain things, you know, to know what you're doing and what you're going through."
