NATIONAL (NBC33) -- An increasing number of pedestrians and cyclists are being killed by distracted drivers in the United States.

A new study finds that distracted driving deaths jumped 50% among pedestrians and 30% among bicyclists between 2005 and 2010. About half of the deaths took place during daytime hours.

Researchers say cell phone-use and texting are to blame, along with using GPS, Radio and eating behind the wheel.
