Every month in 2014, a deserving person, family or organization will be paired with a local business or volunteer to help provide a need.
This month meet Jescus "Zeus" Mitchell a senior in high school who plays basketball. He was nominated to receive braces that are desperately needed to align his teeth and correct his bite. Zeus lives with another family as his father was killed and his mother was unable to support him. The orthodontic care is much needed, but was unattainable.
Dr. Allison Bergdoll, DDS with Dupont Orthodontics is providing all the assessment, dental work, and follow-up care that Zeus will need. She is glad to be a part of Extra Mile's Circle of Giving and says, "I think it's great to see people in our profession and people in the community stepping up to help people out."
Zeus is definitely grateful he says, "It's a pretty good feeling that someone wants to help. It's a blessing." and also, "Thank you and I appreciate it. I say that a lot."
As part of the Extra Mile program's mission to connect people to people and people to the community, Zeus has committed to hours of volunteer service.
All 2014 Extra Mile: Circle of Giving recipients will give back to our community by volunteering with local non-profit organizations, public agencies, schools, and ministries.
