FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) - A son's love for his father is like no other.
That's what makes this month's Extra Mile nomination so special.
Jorge Gonzalez coaches his two sons, Torren and Jaden, at Foster Park Little League.
He's done so for several years and even takes other players under his wing, taking them to practice or games.
In fact one of the boys on the team feels like part of Jorge's family.
Jorge's sister and two sons all nominated him and say they simply wanted everyone to know how awesome he is.
And Jorge will tell you the lessons he hopes to teach off the field are more important than the ones he teaches on the field.
Jorge's son Torren Gonzalez says, "It's a great experience to have someone who's always there for you, and anything you need, he's gonna be there for you. To always have manners and be respectful to others. That's the main things he's told me. He's a great dad. Overall, he's a great dad."
Family friend Darius Maxwell says, "Thanks for everything that he does. He takes me to a lot of places. When we have baseball practice, he always comes to get me from the Boys and Girls Club."
Extra Mile recipient Jorge Gonzalez says, "You know, I just do what I do. I don't think about it. Those are my boys. Just to see the smile on their faces. Wins and losses are okay, but to see how the kids progress from the very first practice to the end of the season, that's where I get my fulfillment from. Just having them is a blessing in itself. I'm blessed to be a father and to have a sister like I have. You know, who can ask for more?
Jorge picks up Darius because his single mom doesn't get off work in time to be able to take him to practice or games.
Jorge said he was humbled to be nominated.
And you can nominate someone you think goes "The Extra Mile."
