FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) This month’s Extra Mile – Circle of Giving story involves an electrical company who warmed the hearts and home of a grateful family.
Michele Berkes-Adams knew her house had electrical problems so she called her handyman friend. Who replaced some of the breakers and everything seemed to be fine for a couple of hours..until the breaker box caught on fire. That left Michele and her family without power for the entire wintry month of February.
They had to stay with friends. Michelle lost income because she works out of their home. Meet Bill Fairfield from Fairfield Electric. Who went the extra mile by doing all of that work at no charge to Michele.
She says, "Having this electrical work donated to us means the world to myself and my family. It means that we get to finally come home… and it gives me my work back so this is really wonderful. Very, very thankful for this."
Bill Fairfield added, "Wth the winter being so extremely cold, I felt like it was important to get the power restored right away… and I wanted to get them in their home as quickly as possible."
You might have noticed you could see Michelle and her children- Caedmon & Delphi's breath as they stood inside the family home. That was back in early March where the tempurature in the home was only 32 derees – the same time Fairfield Electric turned the power… and the heat.. back on.
Michele and her family plan to complete the Circle of Giving by paying it forward by lending a helping hand in the future.
As part of the Extra Mile program's mission to connect people to people and people to the community, all 2014 Extra Mile: Circle of Giving recipients will give back to our community by volunteering with local non-profit organizations, public agencies, schools, and ministries.
