FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- In this week's episode of Cool Science Monday, Martin Fisher from Science Central will talk about turtles.
Martin showed a Red-Eared Slider, common in Indiana ponds and streams. Turtles are a type of reptile (along with snakes, lizards, crocodiles). They have scales, are cold-blooded and lay leathery eggs. Turtles have been on the Earth since the dinosaurs, approximately 225 million years ago, and are now found in fresh-water, in oceans, and on land.
