FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) -- In this week's episode of Cool Science Monday, Martin Fisher from Science Central will talk about plasma.

Plasma is the 4th state of matter. It forms when gas has energy passed through it, such as from electricity, and the gas becomes highly charged/energized/ionized.

With a plasma tube, the gas inside is mostly Neon, but often also has a mixture of Xenon, Argon and Krypton gases. A transformer in the center of the tube sends electricity through the gas, energizes the gas, and allows us to see brightly-colored plumes of gas.
