FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- In this week's episode of Cool Science Monday, Martin Fisher from Science Central will talk about the science of magnets.

Magnets have poles, known as North and South Poles. Like charges repel; a north repels a north, and south repels south. Opposite charges attract; north attracts south.

Magnets have an invisible force (a push or pull), called a magnetic field, that extends beyond the magnet.

When Martin moved the magnet near an old television screen with a grid pattern, it’s magnetic field caused colors to appear on the B&W screen. This occurred even without direct contact, because the field extends well beyond the surface of the magnet.
