FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- In this week's episode of Cool Science Monday, Martin Fisher from Science Central will talk about the science of air and compression.

Air is not visible, and unless it moves, we can’t feel it. This exhibit proves/shows that air is there.

The Air Cannon acts like a drum – one end has a flexible vibrating head, and the other end has an opening. By striking one end, it compresses the air on the inside of the Cannon/drum, the air comes out the opening, moves across the room, strikes a target, causing pieces of cloth to flutter.

Next, Martin showed how to do this at home, with a lit candle and an empty plastic jug. Aiming the jug’s opening towards the candle, and striking the bottom of the jug, causes a wave of air to blow-out the candle.
