Cornerstone Youth Center will host FAFSA completion sessions for families and Teen Tax Return workshops for youth in February. FAFSA, which stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is the application most colleges use to determine eligibility for federal, state and college-sponsored financial aid.
The tax return workshops are by appointment only on Feb. 8, 10 and 15 from 10am to 8pm. Students should bring their driver’s license and W-2s for filing of their taxes.
Parents and their children wanting assistance in obtaining financial aid for college-bound seniors should attend the FAFSA sessions, which also are by appointment only and are scheduled for Feb. 17, 22 and 24 from 10am to 8pm. For FAFSA, students and families will need their W-2s, 1099s, completed tax returns, driver’s license and social security card. Indiana’s financial aid deadline is March 10, 2016.
Cornerstone bookkeeper Marlene DeKoninck will be the staff representative working with youth to teach them how to fill out their tax forms and assist families in filing the FAFSA application.
To make an appointment, call Allison at Cornerstone at 260-623-3972, ext. 183. Cornerstone Youth Center is located at 19819 Monroeville Road in Monroeville.
