IU Health Goshen Home Care and Hospice seeks volunteers to provide comfort, support, and companionship to hospice patients and their families in Elkhart County including Goshen, Syracuse, Middlebury, Millersburg, and Ligonier.

Volunteers are required to take 18 hours of training, which occurs over the course of six days. Training sessions run from 6:00p.m. -9:00p.m. on April 12,14,19,21,26th and from 1:00-4:00p.m. on April 28. All meetings will be held in the Oak/Poplar Rooms in the hospital. You must attend all six sessions unless prior arrangements are made. During training hospice volunteers will learn about hospice philosophy, communication skills; emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of dying; family dynamics; and grief.

Hospice training is free of charge. To submit an application to become a hospice volunteer candidate or for more information, contact Deb Lindemood, Volunteer Coordinator of Hospice at 574-364-1387 or toll free at 1-800-446-4663. Registration deadline is April 8, 2016.
