A free community education event on multiple sclerosis is scheduled on two evenings for individuals and their caregivers or family members. Sponsored by the Anna Yoder MS Fund at the IU School of Medicine-Fort Wayne (IUSM-FW), attendees have a choice of sessions:
*6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 9
OR *6-9 p.m., Thursday, April 16
Both meetings will be held at the med school located on the IPFW campus, near Rhinehart Music Center. Park in parking garage No. 3. RSVP by noon Friday, April 3, at 481-0577 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Limited seating available.
Featured speakers include: Dr. Jimmy Yen, lead MS researcher at the medical school, who will discuss his research on the effects of a form of omega 3 fatty acid on the inflammatory process in MS; IPFW student Katrina Johnson will share about her dietary approach to treating MS; simple, at-home exercises for people with MS will be demonstrated by Indiana Physical Therapy (IPT) therapists; and information on community resources for people with MS will be shared. A light supper will be served, thanks to support from IPT.
