Event Description

March 18, 2015 Updated Mar 18, 2015 at 10:27 AM EDT

John Cochran, by every sense of the word, is a family man. Married to his wife Kim since 1984 and together they have raised 3 beautiful daughters; Cori, Kristin and Lauren. He is blessed with 6 adorable grandkids who mean the world to him. John is the dad who will do anything for his daughters, the grandpa cheering loudly for his grandkids at their sporting events and a rock his wife can always depend on.

On February 10th, 2015 his life would be changed forever. After numerous visits to Ft Wayne hospitals, and with no signs of improvement; his wife and daughters took him to the Cleveland Clinic. John was admitted immediately and went through many test and procedures to understand what was causing his pain and weight loss. The family learned he had a mass on his pancreas and would need a biopsy. During the biopsy surgeons found a mass on his liver which matched the mass on his pancreas. It was then the surgeons utter the horrible phrase, Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.

“Along with my family and friends I am praying for a miracle.” – John Cochran

Over the next few months, John will undergo Chemo to attack the tumors from a different direction. If his body accepts it, his life expectancy will increase as well as his quality of life. This will give him time and the ability to make more memories with his wife, daughters and grandkids. In order to help offset the cost of treatment and the loss of his income, many fundraising events are currently in progress. On April 12th, 2015 a Cut-A-Thon will be held at Tiffany & Co. Studio of Dance; located at 10224 Coldwater Rd. Fort Wayne, IN 46825 from 12pm to 5pm. Professional stylists and barbers from area top salons will be on hand to give haircuts for $20 and purple hair chalk for $10. There will be face painting, a silent auction and live music. Elsa will also be there from 2-2:30pm for a meet & greet. 100% of all proceeds will go to John’s accumulating expenses. A GoFundMe account has been set up if you wish to donate but cannot make it to the event. Go to ‘#COCHRANSTRONG’ http://www.gofundme.com/o4fqqw to make a donation.
