Location: McMillen, Foster, Repka Parks, Metea County, Heatherwood in New Haven and Plaza and Central Drives in Fort Wayne
On November 3, The Friends of the Parks of Allen County, Inc. will once again partner with Allen County Parks, New Haven/Adams Township Parks and Recreation and the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department for the "Great Tree Canopy Comeback."
The program has planted over 2,230 trees in the last 10 years. The goal for the 11th year of the project is to purchase and plant 250 new trees in our parks and streets.
Seven sites will be planted this year including Foster Park, McMillen Park, Repka Park, Heatherwood Park in New Haven, Metea County Park and street trees along Plaza and Central drives by McMillen Park.
Friends of the Parks is in need of volunteers at especially at McMillen, Repka and on Plaza and Central Drives, on November 3 at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers should bring gloves and a shovel. You should also "dress for the weather," since planting will take place rain, snow or shine. Pre-registered adults will receive a t-shirt and children and young adults will receive an embroidered GTCC 2012 badge.
