On Saturday, April 12th, the Fort Wayne Medical Society Alliance will host its annual Cinderella Dress Day for young women in the community. The event features a health fair supported by Parkview and Lutheran, with topics such as how to avoid the dangers of social media, nutrition, Don’t Text and Drive, and a presentation of health related education from Harrison College.
Immediately following the health fair, attendees will be invited to select a FREE prom dress from more than 1,000 new and gently used formal gowns. The Alliance is also providing formalwear accessories like shoes, wraps, bags and jewelry for attendees to select from in order to complete their boutique experience, with Ravenscroft Beauty School on hand to style updos.
For more than ten years, the Alliance has proudly partnered with Peerless Cleaners to collect gently used gowns from the community. Our twelve year campaign has resulted in more than 2,400 dresses being distributed to the community, with a value of $250,000. Many of the gowns collected this year are BRAND NEW, and feature the hottest trends like cut-outs, beading, ombre, in sizes from 0-28. This year is projected to be the biggest yet, with more than 400 attendees from Fort Wayne and the surrounding areas.
Attendees must only be a female high school student, no identification will be required. The event operates on a first-come, first-serve basis, and doors will open at 9am at this year’s new location, the IPFW International Ballroom, Walb Student Union.
