Concordia Lutheran High School is organizing a Cancer Awareness Week, “They All Matter…Find the Cure,” from Monday, January 27th to Friday, January 31st. A culminating event will be held Friday evening, January 31st in conjunction with Alumni Night. Proceeds from events and donations will go to Cancer Services, a local nonprofit that provides direct services to cancer patients.
Concordia seniors Marina Konow and Kristen Scriven and juniors Ally Fulton and Jessica LeBeau are spearheading the week’s activities which include a focus on different types of cancers each day, including providing statistics and devotions each morning. Students will also be able to buy bandanas in a color that represents the different cancers. Pink shirts will be sold all week that may be worn to the “Pink Out” at the varsity basketball games on Friday, January 31st.
Concordia students can invite a family member or friend who is a breast cancer survivor to the game for recognition. In between games they will personally escort them across the court while their name is read. There will be a table set up for survivors to register that evening with the recognition beginning at approximately 7:15 p.m.
