This hilarious but absolutely true story is about Churubusco Indiana's famed leading citizen, a giant turtle named Oscar.
In 1949 farmer Gale Harris claimed to have seen the giant turtle in the small lake on his land and vowed to capture the beast. This year long hunt for Oscar the turtle turned his life upside down, while putting Churubusco firmly on the map as Turtle Town.
As part of the Indiana Bicentennial celebration, this stage play by local playwright Michael Wilhelm, captures the whirlwind of turtle mania that swept through our state, the nation and even the world.
