On Saturday, June 21, 2014, Golden Meadows Home will be hosting its 20th annual auction to benefit the Special Needs Resident Fund. The event will take place on the grounds of Golden Meadows Home, located at 3646 N. 200 E., in rural Decatur, at 10:00 A. M. This is a family friendly event and will feature brand new merchandise, gift certificates from local businesses, items from out-of-town entities such as professional sport teams, hotels, camp grounds, and amusement parks, used merchandise in good condition, and a food tent that will feature a tasty lunch at reasonable prices.
For the past twenty years, the monies raised at our Benefit Auction have been used to enhance the quality of life for the residents who call Golden Meadows their home. This fund has been used to purchase eyeglasses, dentures, walkers, personal care items, haircuts, shoes and clothing, and other goods and services that are not always covered by insurance or public assistance.
In July of 2009, the money in this fund was used to purchase a used lift van for our residents who use wheelchairs or who have mobility difficulties. This van is still in use and has helped many residents to participate in community based activities as well as providing them with transportation to their medical appointments in a safe and dignified manner. Some of the funds are used to provide social and recreational opportunities for our residents such as an annual trip for dinner and a show, a Pizza Party at a local park, a special Christmas meal, and a 3 day, 2 night, camping trip to White Water Memorial State Park.

Over the next several weeks, volunteers from Golden Meadows Home will be visiting businesses to ask if they could help by donating a product, service, or gift certificate to this year’s auction. The business community has been instrumental in making this Benefit Auction successful for many years and we are very thankful for their generosity.
If you are a business, or a person who can help us with a donation, please call Golden Meadows Home at 724-5375. We will be happy to arrange a pick-up of your donation, and your generosity will be acknowledged when your item comes up on the auction block.

Once again, we are happy to have Harry Miller as our auctioneer. Harry, his family, and friends, always make this benefit auction an exciting and enjoyable event. This will be the 19th year that Harry and his team will do the honors as our auctioneers.

Our success is a group effort. We count on the support of the businesses and citizens of our community, and they have always come through for our residents. This is a fundraiser that benefits people in our own backyard. They need, and appreciate, the help that this auction provides. Thank you in advance for your support.
