With pet owners in tow, dogs everywhere are invited to take a 2-mile walk through Franke Park as part of the 25th annual Walk for Animals to benefit Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control.
The event will be held on Sunday, October 14th with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. inside pavilion one. Pledge forms are available at Animal Care & Control, local veterinary hospitals and online at www.fwacc.org. All participants will win a shirt, enjoy free food, and sample vendor products when they register and collect the minimum pledge requirement of $33 per person or $120 per family of four or more. Clubs and businesses with four or more people can form a Dog Pack to help lead the walk.
In addition, six fantastic prize packages are awarded based on dollar amounts raised and turned in October 14th. Businesses can become involved as a vender or through sponsorship by calling 260-427-2590.
The 2012 Walk for Animals is dedicated to Hooch who will be in attendance at the walk with his new owner. Hooch was an animal cruelty case from January 2012 involving gross neglect and his near death experience caused by chaining. Hooch was recovered and rehabilitated by Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control. The owner was prosecuted for animal cruelty.
