Event Description

August 19, 2013 Updated Aug 19, 2013 at 10:04 AM EDT

You are invited to join a book club Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys! The initiative aims to familiarize public audiences in the United States with the people, places, history, faith and cultures of Muslims in the United States and around the world. Let’s Talk About It: Muslim Journeys, a reading and discussion series, has been made possible through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association.

Local sponsorship by the IPFW Walter E. Helmke Library and the Allen County Public Library. Read more about the project and the books at http://bridgingcultures.neh.gov/muslimjourneys/

We are recruiting a group of 25–30 readers on a first-come, first-served basis. Copies of the books will be loaned to you at no charge. We will read and discuss five books; each discussion session will be facilitated by an expert speaker, who will preface the discussion with a brief background lecture.

All meetings will be held at the IPFW campus (location to be announced) and are free and open to the public. We will read and discuss:

Prince Among Slaves by Terry Alford
Expert Speakers: Dr. Quinton Dixie (IPFW)
and Dr. John Aden (African/African-American Historical Museum, Fort Wayne)
