The City of Columbia City announced a city-wide open house today that will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2013, from 9 a.m. to noon at city facilities around the community.
The Municipal Services facility, Water Pollution Control facility, Water Treatment plant, Morsches Park office and City Hall will all be open during that time for the community to tour. The Municipal Services facility houses the Electric, Street/Sewer, Stormwater and Community Development departments.
“The open house will give citizens an opportunity to see and physically touch their tax dollars at work,” said Mayor Ryan Daniel. “We see this as a great way to showcase how we are trying to keep up with our citizen growth, while stretching the dollar a little farther.”
Department supervisors will be available at each facility to give guided tours and explanations of each piece of equipment.
“I hope that citizens will take advantage of this opportunity,” added Daniel. “Our superintendents are very proud of the work of their departments and take pride in the equipment they use. It is important for our residents to know where their dollars go.”
All ages are welcome to attend.
