Homestead High School hosting premiere of The Journey, a documentary movie about the boys and girls record-setting basketball seasons.
The movie, created entirely by current Homestead students involved in the TV program, is a 70-minute long production that takes a look back at the historical seasons of both the girls and boys basketball programs in the 2014-15 school year. The boys team won the school’s first-ever state championship while the girls were state runners up, the furthest a girls team ever went in Homestead history.
The Journey mixes both in-game action and player and coach interviews in a documentary style presentation. It spans the season chronologically, keys in on pivotal points in the season and focuses on both team’s postseason runs. All footage and interviews were recorded by current Homestead students.
The movie premiere is open to the public and free of charge. Doors will open at 6:30pm and patrons are asked to enter through Door #4 at Homestead High School.
The Journey was created by seniors Carl Wright and Matt Hamilton and sophomore Shane Kerr. The production was overseen by Adam Schenkel, Homestead teacher and TV/Radio Director.
