National Novel Writing Month 2016 begins with a kick-off party on October 30, 2016 (place to be determined)
Since 1999, writers have been challenged by the goals of National Novel Writing Month to write a 50,000 word novel (at least!) by 11:59 p.m. on November 30. That’s it—one month, one novel. Few rules.
The Fort Wayne Region of National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO) has been active since 2010, providing writing bootcamps during the month of October to help writers prepare for writing their masterpieces in November, in addition to hosting weekly write-ins and kick-off and wrap-up parties.
Participation in any regional event is optional. However, writers might find that they are inspired by meeting with, and writing in the company of other writers. Weekly write-ins and parties to mark the beginning and ending of the month help with that.
Also, all write-ins and parties are free to attend! Interested writers should go to www.nanowrimo.org to register. Look for “Fort Wayne” under “region,” and also find us on Facebook and Twitter. The schedules for write-ins and other events can be found online.
NANOWRIMO began as a way to promote literacy, and funds raised assist with that purpose.
