Preparations are underway for the ‘must attend’ collector car event of the spring, Auctions America’s Auburn Spring weekend, May 9-11, at the historic Auburn Auction Park in Auburn, Indiana.
In addition to a multi-day auction and an extensive car corral and swap meet presented by Carlisle Events, this year’s Auburn Spring event will feature a new attraction - the inaugural Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Central Division National Spring Meet. A natural fit with the weekend’s focus on celebrating all things automotive, the meet will incorporate a broad range of events and activities, including a judged car show featuring up to 500 cars, a judging school and training, and an apprentice program, before culminating with a late afternoon barbecue on Saturday, May 11.
In addition to the Meet, savvy collectors will be treated to three days of auction excitement, including a single-day dedicated to memorabilia on May 9. This will be followed by the presentation of approximately 600 quality collector cars from May 10 - 11. From American muscle cars to classics, foreign sports cars and hot rods, the offering will span the spectrum of the market, catering to a diverse range of tastes and budgets.
Highlighting early entries for the sale is a magnificent selection of vehicles from the distinguished estate collection of John Soneff, widely respected as one of the foremost Hudson experts in the industry. In total, the auction will feature no less than 19 vehicles and 50 lots of memorabilia from the Soneff Collection, many of which are offered at no reserve. Highlights include a 1949 Hudson Commodore 6 Brougham Convertible equipped with a 262 cu. in six-cylinder Twin H power Hornet engine; a 1950 Hudson Commodore 8 Brougham Convertible resplendent in black with a dark red leather interior and fitted with a 254 cu. in, inline eight-cylinder engine; and a rare 1939 Hudson Business Six Big Boy Pickup presented in light orchid with a red interior.
Additional notable highlights secured for the sale include an AACA award-winning 1931 Auburn 8-98 Boattail Speedster stunning in black and silver with red pin-striping and a tan leather interior; a beautifully restored and well-maintained 1947 Buick Super Estate “Woodie” Wagon with almost completely original wooden bodywork; a multi-award winning 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Code; and, a fully-equipped 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 Fastback featuring a 4-speed manual transmission and one of only 200 built in Brittany Blue.
In addition to these early entries, Auctions America is delighted to partner with Klipsch and Live Nation to present Klipsch’s custom-made Orange County Chopper motorcycle, equipped with Klipsch speakers and featuring signatures from the world’s most famous recording artists. The motorcycle will be sold to the highest bidder on Saturday, May 11 with all funds benefitting Indiana’s regional Make-A-Wish Foundation® chapter.
