the Mayors Youth Engagement Council is holding their fourth annual event on Saturday, May 31, 2013 located on the North Wells Street Bridge titled “River Palooza”. People from all around the community involved in bands, dance groups, artistic clubs and the like will be showcasing their talent to our citizens. Riverpalooza will also include the Fort Wayne's Almost Famous talent program, in which high schoolers will perform and showcase their musical talent. Vendors will be present to spread their messages or sell their merchandise. By holding this event, our goal is to bring more youth downtown giving them the chance to fully enjoy our City.
The Mayor’s Youth Engagement Council (MYEC) is a select group of high school students from around the city representing many schools in the sophomore to senior class levels. This council was founded to address the need to engage the youth in our community. Members connect with their peers while creating innovative solutions and performing service learning projects. Since their beginning, MYEC members have participated in numerous community events including IPFW’s River Fest and College Fair, Great American Cleanup, the American Red Cross and CANI fire safety drive and community input sessions.
