Date(s) & Time(s)::
Daily from April 19, 2014 until April 26, 2014
Location: Launching from Junk Ditch in Fort Wayne
Phone: 260-417-2500 (Save Maumee)
On April 19th, Save Maumee Members will be launching from the glorious (or not so glorious) Junk Ditch in Fort Wayne, Indiana and embarking on a 141 mile journey down the Maumee river all the way "up" to Toledo, Ohio. The launch area was chosen because of its significant location at the Continental Divide between the Mississippi and the Great Lakes! The journey will lead to a higher awareness of the issues that plague our beautiful river systems and help to catalyze action to protect our Maumee. One of the group's goals is to draw attention to the successes and issues that contribute to water quality. A massive thank you goes out to everyone who has supported the campaign so far and if you haven't gotten involved, it's not too late! You have an entire WEEK to join us on our riverbanks!
Join us at one of our FREE & PUBLIC Programing at our landing LOCATIONS, as the Canoe Crew paddles downstream, the Land Crew will set the stage! A documentarian crew will be documenting this maiden voyage and then work to past together two years of our work into a full length documentary!
~ Saturday April 19th THROUGH Saturday April 26 ~ FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
We wanted to give you a few of our EARTH WEEK programing highlights...
Including presentations and expertise from Little River Wetlands Project, Partnership for Water Quality, Allen County and Defiance Soil and Water Conservation Districts, River Network, Maumee Valley Heritage Corridor, ACRES Land Trust, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Toledo's Maumee River Coordinator, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and MORE!
