89.1 WBOI announces Issues & Ales, March 30th, 7-9PM at Calhoun Street Soups, Salads, and Spirits. This event is moderated by Lisa Ryan and Zach Bernard of WBOI news. It features panels of community leaders and experts discussing important issues in our community.

The first issue we’ll explore is poverty. We will look at why some residents in our community are working hard but falling short. The panelists that will share in this discussion are Steve Hoffman, President and CEO of Brightpoint, David Nicole, President and CEO of United Way of Allen County and Steve Garbacz, Reporter for The News Sun.

The second hour will feature a discussion about the opioid epidemic in Northeast Indiana. We’ll look at the impact of these addictions on our community, and how it can be combatted. Dr. Deborah McMahon, Allen County Health Commissioner, Kevin Hunter, Captain of the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice Narcotic Division and Vickie Ley, Director of Addiction Services at The Bowen Center will be the panelists that join us for this hour.

Audience members are encouraged to join the conversations by submitting their questions to the panelists during the event.

Grab a drink and join the discussion at 1915 South Calhoun Street from 7-9PM! More information is at wboi.org.
