More than 350 people are registered to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association during the MDA Muscle Walk to help pay tribute to — and raise funds for — children and adults served by MDA in the Northeast Indiana area.
"We want to encourage people in the Fort Wayne and surrounding area to give back to local families affected by neuromuscular disease," said MDA Fundraising Coordinator, April Oberlin. "By supporting the MDA Muscle Walk event on MARCH 16th people can make an immediate difference and help raise awareness and funds for research and vital services benefiting families served by the Association."
The annual MDA Muscle Walk is scheduled for 1:00pm on Sunday, March 16th at the IPFW Athletic Fieldhouse. For registration information, visit http://www.musclewalkmda.org/nein2014 or call the local MDA office at 260-486-6698.
Expected at the walk are presenting sponsors CVS Pharmacy and Northwestern Mutual along with media partner, Rewind 106.3 and Chris Cruise, Tin Cap mascot, Johnny, a Disney princess, face painting by Tag Art, and carnival games! Local Fort Wayne fire fighters will be grilling up hotdogs served alongside with food from Bandido’s, Firehouse Subs, Kraft Foods, an ice cream truck from McConnell & Sons and much more! Other sponsors include: Superior Van & Mobility, Lutheran Health Network, Midwest Orthotic, Mobile Medical Maintenance, PHP, Pro Resources,WGS Salt, Prevail Prosthetics & Orthotics.
Last year, MDA Muscle Walks nationwide raised more than $6.2 million, and more than $10 million has been raised since the program started in 2011.
