The exciting and original Petar Jankovic Ensemble features a blend of classical guitar and a traditional string quartet. Petar Jankovic, Serbian guitarist and current faculty member at the prestigious Jacobs School of Music, broke new ground by initiating what has been called a truly unique musical crossover: a traditional string quartet led by guitar. The guitarist's Spanish and Latin American influences meld splendidly with the string quartet's European musical traditions. The program has a stunning array of music for string quartet and guitar, from traditional Spanish works by Albeniz and De Falla to classical jewels by Shostakovich and Debussy and passionate tangos and Brazilian music.
