The “Winds of Change” windmills, which graced downtown Kendallville all summer, will be auctioned in a festive event Saturday, Sept. 21, from 3 to 9 p.m. at SOZO Studio, Mitchell and Main streets.

Advancing Regional Talents Inc. is planning live music, hors d’oeuvres from area restaurants from 3 to 5 p.m. , cash bar and a wine and beer garden during the sale of the windmills and artwork by local artists.

The auction begins at 5 p.m. outside SOZO Art Studio and Gallery, featuring Joe Atz and Fred Kreigh as auctioneers.

Proceeds from the windmill auction benefit A.R.T. Inc. and the artists who created them. Donations also will be accepted to help “Save the Strand.” The rain date is Nov. 9 in Baker Hall at the Mid-America Windmill Museum.

Free tickets are required for admission. Tickets are available at downtown Kendallville businesses, Kendallville Chamber of Commerce and Noble County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Fifteen windmills were decorated for A.R.T. Inc.’s first-ever public display in downtown Kendallville. Sponsors include Best Western, Chain O’Lakes Correctional Facility, City of Kendallville, Cole Foundation, Community State Bank, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Flint & Walling, Jansen Family Dentistry, Kraft Foods, Lutheran Life Villages, Orizon Realty, Parkview Hospital, Roush & Will Optometrists Inc., State Farm-Don Gura, Tri Kappa Sorority, WAWK in memory of Don Moore , Work Prep and Young Family Funeral Home.
