Following a great inaugural festival in May 2013, the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is proud to host the APPLESEED CHILDREN'S CHOIR FESTIVAL for Young Voices, June 20-22, 2014! This is a fantastic event designed specifically for intermediate choirs. There are many festival opportunities for the older treble choir; an advanced children’s choir quite literally can attend events around the world. But how do we prepare younger singers for such an experience? One answer is to get their feet wet by doing a similar, but shorter, trip geared just for them! The Appleseed Children's Choir Festival for Young Voices is that event.

"The Grand Rapids Symphony Junior Youth Chorus thoroughly enjoyed their time at the 2013 Appleseed Children's Choir Festival. The festival was well-planned, the clinician, Josh Pedde inspiring, and the variety of events very engaging for our choristers. We highly recommend this festival for your intermediate chorus! Kudos to the whole FWCC team. We hope to return!" ~ Jackie Sonderfan Schoon

"Milwaukee Children's Choir proudly supports the Appleseed Children's Choral Festival! I was greatly impressed by how well prepared the Fort Wayne Children's Choir representatives were when creating and implementing this wonderful festival. My young choristers had a wonderful time in Fort Wayne! The Appleseed Children's Choral Festival was a wonderful experience for the choir and especially for all those who have not yet experienced going on a choir tour. Many thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to the development of the children's choral experience." ~ Marco Melendez, Artistic Director, Milwaukee Children's Choir

"The Festival was well organized and ran smoothly. Our parents were impressed how staff was attentive to detail and exhibited warm hospitality. Thanks for a great experience." ~ Brad Koloch, Associate Director, Kantorei - The Singing Boys of Rockford, IL

Musically, this Festival promises to be enriching, educational, and rewarding. The guest clinician is EMILY ELLSWORTH, Artistic Director of ANIMA - Young Singers of Greater Chicago since 1996. Ms. Ellsworth will choose music specifically for the younger ensembles, with students in approximately grades 5-8, for an inspiring mass choir experience. In addition, ensembles may choose to perform in the final concert for the entire audience. Fort Wayne, known as the City of Churches, offers ensembles the option to participate in and sing for morning worship on Sunday.

All rehearsals, as well as the final concert, will be held at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), at the Rhinehart Music Center . Completed in 2007, this state-of-the-art facility was designed specifically for acoustic music. The 1500 seat Auer Performance Hall is a pride of the community, and is a phenomenal place to sing.

When we’re not singing, we will have plenty of fun and education activities! Fort Wayne has one of the top 10 children’s zoos in the United States, and we anticipate visiting! In addition, we have a beautiful new facility for the Fort Wayne minor league baseball team, the TinCaps, and, hopefully, we will get to enjoy Parkview Field and sing the National Anthem for a home game (the 2014 season schedule is not set yet).
