The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne welcomes former Indiana University basketball player and alumni Club member, Landon Turner, at the 22nd Annual Steak & Burger Dinner on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the Landmark Conference Centre. WANE-TV’s Sports Director, Glenn Marini, will be the Emcee for the evening.

With a high school and college basketball career headed for the NBA, tragedy struck just four months after Landon helped the Indiana Hoosiers win the 1981 NCAA Championship. Paralyzed from the chest down after a car accident, his determination to succeed endured. He has co-authored a book on his struggle in Coach Knight’s “Dog House” and success in the Big Ten. Landon has also received the US Basketball Writers Association’s Most Courageous Award and was awarded the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award by Governor Evan Bayh among many other inductions for his triumphs both on and off the basketball court. Please join us as Landon inspires Club members and guests with his inspirational story of overcoming adversity, maintaining a positive attitude and living an abundantly successful life.

The event will also feature a bike drawing for lucky Club members in attendance and a “Needs-based Auction.” A cocktail reception and registration will begin at 5:30p.m. and the dinner and program begin at 6:30p.m. at the Landmark Conference Centre located at 6222 Ellison Road. WANE-TV is the exclusive TV Sponsor for this event.

Registration is $150 per guest and pre-event registration is required. Corporate table sponsorships are available and include eight guest registrations seated with two Club members. Bike sponsorships are also available for the drawing. All ticket and auction proceeds will support the programs offered to children and teens through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne. Go to www.bgcfw.org to register or donate.
