Location: IPFW campus
Starting June 10, over 1,500 students and 1,000 family members will be welcomed this summer to the Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) campus as new IPFW Mastodons through New Student Orientation (NSO).
New Student Orientation is a two-step process that provides new IPFW students the foundation to connect with campus, learn how to access important resources, build their fall semester schedule, have some fun, and get on a successful path toward graduation.
This week kicks off a dozen advising and registration sessions throughout the summer, culminating in a three-day NSO in August.
“Orientation, for many students and their families, is their first experience with IPFW, so we strive to make sure they are welcomed by friendly faces, encouraged in their educational goals, equipped with multiple tools, and ready to begin a successful tenure at IPFW,” said Krissy Creager, assistant vice chancellor for student success and transitions. “These students will have meaningful interactions with peers, upperclassmen, faculty, staff, and administration as they are provided with multiple touchpoints for engagement in all facets of university life.”
New Student Orientation includes:
Step 1: Advising and Registration Day
At this half-day session (a.m. or p.m.), students come to campus, take their student ID card picture, meet with an academic advisor, learn about important university resources, dates, and policies, and register for fall semester courses. Sessions are 8 a.m.–noon or 1–5 p.m.
