The Junior League of Fort Wayne’s (JLFW) Women’s Independence Project will host a Resume Workshop for residents of Hope House Inc. and the Fort Wayne Women’s Bureau Transitions Program. The workshop will take place at 7:00pm on March 13 at the Allen County Public Library Downtown Branch. Volunteers from JLFW, WorkONE, and other volunteers will assist residents, who are recovering from drug and/or alcohol addictions, in the creation of resumes and cover letters.
Since 2008, JLFW’s Women’s Independence Project has collaborated with Hope House and the Women’s Bureau to empower women to feel confident in their employment search after completing recovery programs for addiction. JLFW works to train residents in areas including: resume writing, dressing for success, completing a job application, interviewing skills, and dependability and attitude.
“The resume building classes are particularly helpful, since each woman is gets individual attention to write a resume that reflects her specific strengths,” said Mary Etheart, Executive Director at Hope House. “Hope House residents are able to find employment in less time than it took them prior to participation in the Women’s Independence Project.”
The workshop is only for those residents of Hope House and Transitions, but community volunteers interested in helping can contact the JLFW office at (260)425-3447, or email email@example.com.
