Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Department of Nursing will host an open house for its new streamlined RN-B.S. program, which debuted in fall 2016.
The open house will be held October 18 at DeBrand Fine Chocolates, 10105 Auburn Park Drive, with time slots from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Those interested in learning more or applying for admission can register for the open house. For more degree information, interested parties may also contact the program’s advisor, Leah Schweikhardt, RN, at 260-481-6111 or schwll01@ipfw.edu, or visit the program's website.

About the Streamlined RN to B.S. Program
The Streamlined RN to B.S. Program, formerly known as the RN to B.S. Online, offers nurses who hold an associate degree the opportunity to pursue a Bachelor of Science with a major in Nursing.

The new program provides more flexibility and enables completion in less time than previously offered. Changes such as seven-week courses and the ability to complete the degree in just one year are examples of ways the program is tailored to working nurses. As a result, enrollment is open three times a year, an update from the once-a-year enrollment option.

The department continues to give credit to those who qualify, allowing individuals to test out of courses based on previous nursing experience. The program is in response to the needs of the community of nurses who are strongly encouraged or required to return for a baccalaureate degree.

Its design is meant to adapt to the needs of working nurses, while still maintaining the program’s reputation for excellence and rigor.

“Our faculty designed the Streamlined RN to B.S. program to help the region’s nursing community get the degrees the health industry wants," says Chancellor Vicky Carwein, who has a Ph.D. in nursing. "Many nurses are balancing the need to return for a baccalaureate degree with the demands of their work. Our program combines the reputable rigor of a Purdue degree with the flexibility these working nurses need.”
