Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign to promote financial education across all age groups from April 5-12, 2014. Launched in 2002 by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the program is now active in more than 45 states through national partnerships with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) Cooperative Extension and the American Library Association.

In Allen County, a Money Fair will be held at the Allen County Public
Library downtown on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Parking is free with a library card. Vendors representing financial
institutions, government agencies, and social service agencies will be
present, workshops will be available, door prizes for participants, and
electronic financial activities to test financial knowledge.

Workshops will be offered every hour with Affordable Care Act at 10:00 a.m.; Credit Scores: What Goes into a Credit Score and Tips to Improve Your Score at 11:00 a.m.; Take Control of Your Budget at 1:00 p.m., Identity Theft Protection at 2:00 p.m., and Medicare 101 at 3:00 p.m.
Participate in the activities and become Money Smart.

Additional workshops will be held on Wednesday, April 9 at 5:00 p.m. at
the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne on Financial Checkup 101 and
Thursday, April 10 at 5:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Missionary Church on
Financial Checkup 101.

Money Smart Week Money Fair is sponsored by the Allen County Public Library, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, United Way of Allen County and the Allen County Financial Stability Partnership.
