Anthony Wayne Rotary, part of Rotary International, announces that the speaker for the July 22 Rotary meeting will be Arnie Ball. Arnie has been a teacher and coach in Allen County for over 45 years and recently retired (July 1st) as the Head Volleyball Coach at IPFW. He has coached thousands of students and won numerous games and awards. His teams have won national acclaim by reaching the NCAA Division I Final Four. His son, Lloy Ball, is ranked as one of the greatest volleyball players in history of the sport, having played on the American National Team for 15 consecutive years (1993-2008). Lloy also served as the captain and setter for Team USA in four consecutive Olympic Games, winning a Gold Medal in the 2008 Beijing Games.
After Arnie Ball is finished speaking, he will receive our 1st ever AWR Education Plaque which will honor his years of commitment to education. Several IPFW administrators, relatives, and friends of Arnie will also be present. Beginning this year our AWR Club will be choosing one outstanding retiring educator from public and private schools in the Fort Wayne/Allen County area for recognition. This reward will help to recognize the many teachers from our area who have dedicated their full and successful career to promoting education. A second individual will also be recognized during this award ceremony.
