The 6th Annual Nate’s 5K Walk-Run is on August 3, 2013, in honor of Nathan Shull who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 24. Nathan was a Navy diver and aspired one day to be a Navy Seal. During a final physical evaluation to enter the Navy Seal program, doctors discovered a malignant tumor in his leg, which was ultimately diagnosed as Clear Cell Sarcoma. He fought hard, enduring many surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy, but eventually lost his battle to cancer in 2008.
It was a goal of his to run in a marathon, so Nate’s 5K in his honor. This year, as in the past, it will be held in Howe, starting next to the Howe Fire Station.
Registration time is at 7 a.m. and race follows at 8 a.m. The event will raise money for Sarcoma research and to keep Nathan’s memory alive. You can call 260-336-4901, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. Also, for more information you can visit the website at http://www.nates5k.com and www.sarcomahelp.org.
