FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Fernando Zapari owns and publishes the "El Mexicano" newspaper in Fort Wayne. The largest of its kind in the state!

Not only does he provide a massive service to the Hispanic Latino community, locally but Fernando does "a lot on his own" to help his neighbors.

He serves on the "United Hispanic Americans" board.

And, most importantly he serves as an advocate for people in-need like Jorge Gonzalez, a local 18-year-old who last November underwent a kidney transplant in Indianapolis.

Fernando spear-headed two year’s worth of fundraising to the tune of $100,000!

Co-worker, Delia Valdez, nominated him for the angel recognition.

Delia Valdez who nominated Fernando said, "You know, people who do things like this for the community don't really do it for recognition, but it's nice every now and then to let them know they're appreciated."

Jorge Gonzalez who’s helped by Fernando says, "He deserves it because he because he's helped a lot of people besides me, and he's a great person. He's the best person I've ever known."

Fernando Zapari says, "I know there's so many beautiful angels here in the city of Fort Wayne, and truly, I would like to share that honor with all of those that cannot be on your show. I know so many of them myself, and I just encourage them to do the same thing, and never give up. We've got two choices. We can help, or we can choose not to do anything."

Jorge said he wants to grow-up to be just like Fernando.
