FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - This month's Angel is Gary Parrett of Columbia City.

He's a police officer who owns a restaurant and supports his community in many ways.

Gary owns Big G's Sports Cafe on the south side of Columbia City. One look outside and inside his restaurant, you can tell the guy loves sports and his community and has been sworn to protect and serve the past several years.

Gary grew up with very little and doesn't want to see anyone else go through the same. That's why he sponsors youth sports teams, hosts fundraising events and has been known to financially help out families in need.

Gary is a Christian who loves his family, his hometown, his work and his customers.

His fiance, Heather Meeks, nominated Gary after seeing some of our Angel stories on the air.

Heather Meeks said, "He has such a big heart, and he's so caring, and I think a lot of it goes unseen behind the scenes, and it amazes me what he does. I see it every day, and I just want other people to see the impact he is having on the community."

Gary Parrett said, "That's what I think really makes me succeed. People understand that I'm more than happy to support those who support me."

Heather also said she hopes Gary teaches their children someday the importance of God, community and humility.

Gary says he's thankful for his good fortune every day. He wants children in the community to trust him as a human being and not fear him as a police officer because he can help them get involved in positive activities like sports and help them stay out of trouble.''

Another great Angel Among Us. Keep those nominations coming!
