FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - This month's Angel is 80 year old Mary Tucker of Spencerville.

She's recovering from successful lung cancer surgery.

Mary's quilted for 20 years.

She leads a quilting lesson-support group website called "Beginners and Beyond." It has 500 worldwide members.

Two local women who nominated her say Mary puts others first.

She makes stockings, pillow cases and quilts for military members and even cares for stray animals.

Kathleen Renno of Fort Wayne said, "She is such a giving person. She has cats, and she fixes her porch out there with heating pads so they don't get cold in the winter time."

Karen Stir of New Haven added, "If you're looking for someone who supports our military members, it's Mary K. She just gives 100 percent to them all the time. She just doesn't think. She does."

Mary Tucker said, "I have two boys. My boys never had to go to the service. So I think about the moms and the grandmas, everybody that has boys in the service. They've put their lives on hold with their families to do this for us. Now, what can I do that might give them a little bit of happiness and make them feel that we are behind them

Mary calls the teachers in her group "family" because they support her and each other.

She uses a mid-arm quilting machine and her mother's 1940's sewing machine and has made hundreds of quilts.

She says she was humbled to be chosen as an Angel.

Keep those nominations coming!
