They raise money to help bring children and adults from Haiti and from Ghana who have serious medical needs to Fort Wayne.
Nancy Stanley nominated Rebekah after Nancy and her husband reached out to little Jean from Haiti who needs corrective eye surgery.
Through "Hands that Heal" most children leave their families and homeland to come here, for however long, to get better. They then go back.
Rebekah has three biological children, two with medical concerns. She's hoping to adopt from both Haiti and China. She says with the support of her husband, she's doing her life's work.
Nancy says she's in awe.
She said, "Rebekah is someone with a very strong can do attitude. Rebekah is incredibly optimistic. Rebekah's glass is always half full. She has a very strong Christian base as well, and I know that that's probably what sees her through everything that she does, and her passion for helping others is amazing, and it's contagious."
Rebekah said, "It's the fire that burns inside of me. It is our duty to help these people who, even if they have the money to get help down there, there are hardly any specialists in Haiti, and in a lot of the developing countries and, you don't choose where you're born. If I was in their shoes, I sure hope someone on the other end would be there to help me and help my kids."

Rebekah's father, a doctor, and mother, a nurse helped people in Haiti in years past so, you might say, it's in her blood.
