Fort Wayne, Indiana - (Indiana's NewsCenter)

Dave Hans and his wife, Vivian love to ballroom dance.

The couple began taking lessons a few years ago and now compete!

Their association with their social dance club led Vivian to want to raise money for Special Olympics in 2007.

That led to ballroom dancing becoming a sport for Special Olympics Indiana, and the competitions have been held in Fort Wayne the past two years.

Vivian quietly organizes everything and stays in the background.

Dave's pride in his wife just beams from his face.

And her pride in the dancers does the same.

Vivian Hans said, "They just are wonderful. They enjoy so much what they do, and it shows all the time. I love to dance, and I just really love share it with anybody."

Dave Hans said, "This has just touched her heart like you just can't believe, and she just works day and night on it, and it's just strictly for the dancers. They were stars to her, but you know, behind every star there's an angel."

Vivian added, "I'll be in the grocery store, and it's not unusual for someone to tap tap on my shoulder, and I'll turn around, and it's one of the dancers. They'll say, hey, I've got that turn down. You want me to show you? I mean we stop what we're doing, and we do our turn right there in the grocery store!"

The 2009 Special Olympics Indiana Ballroom Competition took place last month at the Grand Wayne Center.

Professional dancers volunteered to pair up with competitors.

The event is growing with 26 couples in 2008 and 53 this year.
